Cormac Callanan is appointed to Internet Safety Advisory Council in the National Office of Internet Safety in Ireland. The Office for Internet Safety (OIS) was established in March 2008 as an Executive Office of the Department of Justice, Equality & Law Reform. The OIS has primary responsibility for the development and promotion of strategic actions to promote the highest possible levels of internet safety, particularly in relation to combating child pornography. The Office for Internet Safety plays a key role in ensuring a cohesive approach is being taken across Government Departments, State Agencies and other key stakeholders in addressing illegal content on the internet. Council of Europe Guidelines adopted.

Cormac Callanan and Marco Gerke (www.cybercrime.de) complete the Guidelines for the cooperation between law enforcement and Internet Service Providers against cybercrime. This document was adopted at the global conference "Cooperation against Cybercrime", Strasbourg, 1-2 April 2008. The guidelines are a non-binding tool that can now be disseminated and be used to help law enforcement and service providers in any country around the world to organise their cooperation against cybercrime whilst respecting each others roles and responsibilies aswell as the rights of internet users.

Callanan completes successful term as INHOPE CEO.

Cormac Callanan completes 5 years as CEO of the International network of Internet Hotlines combating online child pornography. During his term of office the network grew to 28 hotlines in 25 countries.

Cormac Callanan joins INHOPE as Secretary General bringing his extensive experience as CEO of the Irish Internet hotline against Child Pornography (www.hotline.ie and as Chairman of the ISP Association of Ireland (www.ispai.ie. He will be responsible to lead the INHOPE network and enhance its structures and systems to ensure substantial growth, greater visibility, increased funding and partnership with key international stakeholders.
